The deeper Hubert ventured, the more familiar everything felt. Though the heart of City S was not his ancestral home, it was where he often brought his romantic interests. He knew these streets like the back of his hand. This simulation recreated the city’s center down to the finest detail, with the sole exception that the buildings were a tad bit smaller.
Approaching empty spaces, which spanned about two or three square meters—a tininess that dwarfed the real-world by a factor of ten—it was evident that this was a miniature version of City S. Even the trees that lined the paths were scaled down to human height.
"While everything’s shrunk, it’s still unmistakably City S. It’s truly miraculous, though only we remain unscaled."
Hubert commented, simultaneously reaching down to touch the ground of these vacant spaces. His touch met a soft, moldable texture.
"This feels… like slime. What on earth could this be?"
