Chapter 155. Distant and Unfamiliar

At that moment, Minister Wang was in his chamber, with Canis standing close by, whispering something to him. Upon Hubert’s entrance, a peculiar expression painted Minister Wang’s visage, suggesting the topic of their conversation indeed involved him. Canis spoke first:

"Have you finished your tasks over there?"

Hubert merely nodded in response. He gazed at Minister Wang, articulating with a heavy heart:

"Father, surely you have heard of the events that transpired. I sincerely apologize for altering everyone’s memories. But it was for Raymond that I had no other choice."

Minister Wang’s cold, penetrating stare met Hubert’s. Their prior relationship wasn’t that of warm fatherly affection. The Minister had always been kind to Hubert, primarily out of a sense of guilt. Thus, even if Hubert’s demeanor turned frosty, the Minister didn’t feel any more estranged.
