Chapter 64
“Don Valentino, your tip was on the money. Alan Robbins is in Cottonwood, Arizona. Unfortunately, we just missed him by an hour. We've gathered all the intel on him, and we'll shoot it over to you via fax. The guy got hitched this morning to some rancher gal. We had a little chat with her; she was pretty easygoing and a real country bumpkin. Spilled the beans without a fuss, thinking we were Feds on the lookout for a missing person. Surprisingly, she didn't bother asking for any ID.
We hung around for about forty minutes, thinking Robbins might swing by the house. But when we headed back in, we found her solo, fresh out of the shower. Turns out Robbins took a detour from Prescott, rented a plane, and was supposed to fly it to Phoenix. At the last minute, he changed the flight plan and headed to Lake Havasu City. No clue if he had company on board or if he was picking someone up there to ferry them to Phoenix.
