Chapter 7
“Pudding, pudding, pudding, pudding...” I murmured absentmindedly.
“Anna? Earth calling Anna?” Gabriela snapped her fingers in front of me.
She held a dustpan in one hand and a broom in the other. Aunt Charlotte would be arriving soon to inspect the apartment.
I tore my eyes away from my window-cleaning task and, embarrassed, looked down at the floor.
“You still haven’t told me why you and Colton were together this afternoon,” she demanded.
I resumed spraying the windows and wiping them down with a cloth, trying to avoid the topic of the kiss. I mustn’t talk about the kiss.
“I already told you,” I lied. “Cliff hired him, and then he sent me to accompany him on some errands.”
“Why would Colton ask for a job there? If he had told me, I could have had my dad give him an executive position,” she said, frowning in confusion.
