A nurse brings a wheelchair, but before I go, my mother-in-law asks to give me one last hug and says a quick prayer for everything to go well. And even without religion, I thank her. That means she cares a lot about me and Ariel.
Taesu also hugs me, touching my face and saying sweet words while looking into my eyes. He also talks to Ariel, asking her to come quickly and saying he’s excited to hold her too. When I feel his kiss on my belly and then on my cheek, I know it’s time to go.
Jaewon takes me in that wheelchair to the room where they’ll prepare me. He needs to be taken to another room too and that scares me. The realization of being alone while my daughter is about to be born fills me with complete panic again, and it gets worse when another contraction comes while I’m putting on a new hospital gown, and without being able to even tie it at the back, I’m put on the stretcher for another examination.
