My body was still cold.

What do I do now?

“We need to call someone,” Harin says, still looking at the baby.

But confused, I ask:

“Who to?”

“The police? Your mom? I don’t know, Jae, but we have a baby while his father might be out there, in danger.”

“Danger? Do you think… Namsoo might be thinking of…”

“Don’t think about that, Jaewon. I don’t want to think about it.”

“Neither do I! My God, but why? Why did he do this?”

“He’s going through a very embarrassing moment, Jae. He must be confused. He lost the woman he loved, had a child with her, and she couldn’t even hold him in her arms as it was her only wish. I can’t imagine what his mind is like right now.”

“But he’s a baby, Harin.” I lift the baby carrier, looking at NamHa still so quiet. “He’s his flesh and blood. His own flesh and blood; he should be thinking about this baby now.”

“We don’t know how he is, Jae. Please, let’s not judge him.”
