I paused, suspending my fork in the air,right when I was about to take in the pancake dangling on the fork. "He called because of me?"
"Surprisingly, yes." She answered. "He's Lorenzo's best friend."
Oh kelvin.
At the sound of his name, my stomach sank to the deepest pit. Trying to mask my worry, I stuttered, "S-o w-hat did he say?" I asked, failing at it. "Is Lorenzo okay?"
She breathed before she spoke, "yes, he is. It's just that he's been trying to reach out to you and you've not been responding to his calls and messages."
I looked away, saying nothing.
She let out an annoyed huff of air, "I don't know why he even called me. Lorenzo should have made the call instead," she hissed, "it put me in a position that made me subject to being polite to him… "
Why was she sounding paranoid? What was her story with this guy? Because if they just hooked up and part ways afterwards, there wouldn't be this anger seeping through her words.
