Lynn’s POV

“Good, I’m glad to hear that. Listen, I just got a call from my boss. Someone didn’t show up so I have to go in. Are you okay here?” His question was hesitant and it made me grin. He was worried about me and that was the sweetest thing ever.

“Oh, that’s fine, Drake! Thank you for bringing me here. I can manage until this jerk gets discharged from the hospital in the morning and then we’ll take a cab back to my place.”

I heard him inhale a deep breath before he asked, “You sure?”

I paused for a moment wondering why he was being so hesitant. “Yeah, I’m sure. And then…” I paused again, then I’d like to continue our conversation from earlier.” I really did. The lack of not knowing what he wanted to say was killing me.

“Yeah, sounds good,” he replied in a dry, gravelly voice. “Call me when you and Luis get in.”
