I glanced at the clock on my computer: 6:35 PM. The office had emptied out an hour ago, but I was still finalizing the construction timeline for the project. My phone buzzed with a text from Alexander.
Alexander: My office. Now.
My stomach fluttered. That commanding tone, even in text form, did things to me I couldn’t explain. I saved my work, smoothed my skirt, and headed to his office.
I knocked once before entering. Alexander was standing by the window, his broad shoulders outlined against the New York skyline. He turned, his eyes immediately darkening as they swept over me.
