Chapter 11. A Slice of Courage

He kept pulling me towards the part of the field which I'd worked on earlier that day. Some of the workers busied themselves with cleaning their work tools while preparing to leave since the sun was beginning to set.
I followed him without any form of protest like a sheep heading to the slaughterhouse. He stopped at the farthest end of the land which led to the forest and had several tall trees that could act as a shade.
"Won't you beg me not to hit you?" He snarled, playing with the strips of the whip with a triumphant look.
"I didn't commit any crime, besides I was done with the work you assigned to me." I retorted sharply.
He was dumbfounded for a moment then he pushed me abruptly towards the direction of the forest. I staggered backward, my feet almost losing their balance at the force at which he pushed me with.
