Chapter 21. Saving Rolan

As I veered to the pack house, sighing intermittently in pure exhaustion, a young woman ran towards me with a little boy in her hands while yelling my name.
Surprise was evident in my face as I imagined that everyone had forgotten that I existed. I increased my pace so that I could get to her, feeling uncomfortable that a woman older than me was racing towards me.
"Princess Hermione, thank you so much for everything you have done." She chirped, excitement lacing her voice.
I tilted my head to the side, my brows furrowed as I thought of what I could have done to elicit such genuine appreciation. "But I've done nothing, ma'am. I'm just returning from the field, and the only thing I did there was to work." I explained in quick pants as the extra fast paces I'd taken drained the remaining energy out of me.
"You didn't have to be around to do what you did. A larger portion of food crops was disbursed
