Chapter 67. Her Wish

"Leave her."
The tiny pieces left of my heart crumbled as Rolan's voice brought us to a halt at the courtyard. I summoned courage to stare at his face which was without any tinge of emotion, just his signature impassive expression he usually wore as a mask though his eyes were colder than I'd ever seen it.
They let go of me quickly and moved some meters away as he pushed closer to me, his steps fluid and intimidating. I didn't incline my head as others would do; rather, I kept my gaze fixed on him, letting him know that he didn't scare me one bit.
He stopped when we were just an inch away from each other. Our gazes were locked with none of us willing to back down from the unspoken staring competition.
He blinked, then averted his gaze from me, moistening his lips before speaking. "Did you ever have feelings for me? Even if it was as tiny as an amt." He asked, his tone broken and weak.
