"That's something that needs to be decided when Soren gets back," I replied.

After all, it's not a decision I can make, because by accepting Klaus' help, it's as if they've forgiven him. I doubt very much that Ayla and Soren will accept that willingly.

"Ayla isn't just a slave, she never was," I said.

Klaus turned his face to me, curious.

"The amount of silver, wolfsbane and other poisons in her blood was enough to suppress her true nature." I explained, "She's not a wolf, but a Lycan... One of the few that still exists. I believe she will soon undergo her first transformation."

There are few Lycans in the world, most are men and the few women who exist are protected, as it is much easier for a Lycan to be born if the parents are two Lycans. She-wolves generally can't carry the child of a Lycan, precisely because the Lycan genes are much stronger and the chance of a Lycan and a she-wolf having a Lycan child is even lower.
