"I chose her, she's my protégé, and she's in my care! Soren accepted her because I chose her! Do you think you're superior to me?" Victor asked, barely able to hold back his anger.

Lily shook her head in the negative.

"If our Emperor were to choose a mate, that person would be me!" Victor slapped Lily across the face again. "I'm the oldest, the one who's been with him from the beginning! Are you saying that your place is better than mine?"
