Chapter 98. The Final Chapter
He gasped, “You’re one of them.”
Her hands fell from her face, and a fearful look registered in her eyes as she expected nothing but the worst now.
“Daniel!” she called out in a hollow voice as he scrambled to his feet. He dashed out of the room the same second with lightning speed, and she knew she had to follow him. Her head hurt, and it grew with every second that passed, but she couldn’t stay still and let it subside. She had to follow and make him understand that things weren’t what he thought.
She ran into the living room and found Daniel already reaching for his rifle. He took it and pointed it at her.
“Do not move.”
She held her hands up, despite wanting to put them on her aching head, and said, “Daniel, listen to me.”
“How long have you been like this?” he demanded, and she couldn’t answer. She didn’t know how long; she just realized the truth not so long ago and was confused by it all.
