Raising my hands in surrender, I felt the weight of Xavier's furious glare directed at Nelson, burning with a rage so palpable I could almost feel it. He seemed ready to explode, a deep growl emanating from him at the sight of the gun pointed at me—an echo of the fierce anger I felt for the same reason, compelling me to act on pure instinct without a single thought.
In a flash, I ducked beneath the weapon, propelled myself forward, and sprang back up, delivering a swift upward strike with the base of my palm that collided with Nelson's nose. The unmistakable crack of bone breaking resonated in the air, only a split second following my unexpected maneuver.
Clutching his nose in shock and pain, Nelson let out a pained whimper and staggered backward, desperately reaching for the sliding door's lever to escape the van.
