As if on cue, Andrew slammed the brakes to avoid colliding with a bus, causing my body to lurch forward. I cracked my head against the back of his seat, and my vision began to swirl. I closed my eyes against the disorienting effect, only to see stars bursting behind my eyelids as though I were witnessing animated fireworks.
