"Shouldn't we try to get together and talk? I believe that if I continue to hide, I will be judged even harsher for my attitude toward your family."

Chase didn't seem convinced; the man seemed to have his own reasons.

"For the time being, it does not appear feasible. I don't want them to hurt you and endanger our baby because you're heavily pregnant. Maybe after you give birth, we'll be able to see my family and act normally. Because I, too, can't stand living quietly with our small family."

Ellen's heart warmed at the prospect of her, Chase, and their baby raising a happy little family in the future. "I'm sorry f
