Chapter 156
“Why?” she asked as his hands hovered in mid-air near her face.
“You are already so pretty; I don’t think anyone would be able to take their eyes off you. If you put on any more makeup, you’d be too pretty—you might as well be a goddess.”
Jessica cleared her throat. She stared at herself in the mirror and wondered how she wasn’t more flushed than she looked. No one had ever said something like that to her before.
“I want to be prettier,” she replied and picked up her powder compact from the table.
“I guess I will have to keep you at home all day then,” he replied, standing up and slowly walking toward her.
“You can’t do that,” she told him and continued patting her face with the powder puff.
“Don’t make me do that,” he said, going down on one knee.
