Hearing Xavier’s morning voice made Jessica weak in her knees. She put her hands on the sink in front of her to keep herself from falling. If she fell again, then Xavier would make a bigger issue than yesterday. He put on a tough front, but it was obvious that he was a kind man at heart.

“What are you doing?” he asked again, his hand going into his hair to arrange it.

“I want to visit Dawson, so I wanted to freshen up,” Jessica responded, turning to face the mirror. If she continued looking at him, she might gawk at him continuously all day long.
