As they entered with the doctor, Xavier pushed his grandfather’s wheelchair into the ward where Jessica was staying. Jessica turned when she heard the door open and sat up straight.

Her eyes lit up when she saw Dawson in the wheelchair. Since she had met him, this was the first time she was seeing him outside his usual room. She had still been planning to take him home.

“How do you feel today, Mrs. Delgado?” the doctor asked, rubbing alcohol-based sanitizer on his hands before examining her.

“Much better,” she said.

“Could you lie down for me? I would like to check something,” the doctor responded.

Jessica nodded before lying back down. Xavier moved Dawson away from the door, and they both waited silently in the seating area.
