Chapter 17
“Larissa,” he whispered, making her stop dead in her tracks. She could feel the pain in his voice, the desperation, and more emotions that she failed to interpret.
As she took another step, he whispered, “please” in a tiny voice. To be sincere, he didn’t even know why he said it but felt the need to say it.
She took more footsteps away from him. Every inch away from him was like cutting his heart into pieces of red meat.
He closed his eyes. What did he even think? That she would forget everything - his danger and her father’s death just to be with him? He already knew that she would decide to leave, but again, he bothered asking.
He knew that even if he didn’t ask, she had to find a way to escape him.
She held the doorknob tightly and turned it slowly, locking the door.
He wanted her to leave, and he blamed himself for her father’s death, but what he didn’t know was that he was stuck with her forever.
