Chapter 18

She was awake already but a little afraid to open her eyes. A smile found its way to her lips when visions of what happened yesterday never left her, even in her dreams.

In all her life, she had never felt this so alive and free, like she was floating above the clouds. She could still feel his touch all over her body and his kisses. 

Her eyes finally opened, and she stared up at the ceiling. Her heart was still filled with happiness, and for sure, she couldn’t stop smiling, turning to her other side where he lay.

Sadness seeped in at the emptiness. She had slept through, and he left early. Even through the sadness, she knew she shouldn’t cause trouble. Gaetano had things to take care of, but at least for their first night, he could have stayed until she woke up.

Putting a bed sheet around her body, she went to the bathroom to at least wash her body.
