It was a little past 4 pm and the sun wasn't in full glare. They walked but not towards the front gate. They hadn't even left the compound. They had walked for quite a while but there was nothing except trees and flowers in sight. Lilian knew that the compound was big but she didn't expect it to be this huge. They walked silently side by side. Lilian was happy that Damian was quiet. His voice was the last thing that she wanted to hear. As the evening came, the birds came to rest on the trees and sang sweet songs. Lilian basked in the beauty of it all. The evening air was fresh and crisp and the flowers were in full bloom. Soon the scent of fruits could be smelt and they reminded her of Sean and his fruit salad. Soon they passed a strawberry bush, heavy with fruit. Lilian was starving. She couldn't eat proper food and fruits could only do so much for her tummy.
