He, Murat Khan, the devil, was apologizing to her. She was still in shock from him calling her by her name, and now this apology.
But before she could faint from the shock, a silhouette fell on the fountain nearby, revealing Selina, who was hiding behind a pillar.
Ayleen turned back to look at the devil and noticed the way he was clenching and unclenching his fists, his forehead veins all prominent. It didn’t take her a second to realize that it was Selina who had made him do this.
Not knowing whether to be happy about the power Selina had over him, Ayleen nodded her head.
“It’s okay, Master. You don’t need to apologize!” She played along.
“Thanks! I will ask Martha to tend to the medications. No need to work until you get better.” Ayleen flinched at the acid in his tone.
Bobbing her head up and down, she bowed before scurrying away, still feeling his heated gaze burning holes through her body.
