Chapter 40. Damned After My Affection
Jimmy couldn’t make any sense of what he had just seen. He thought he was hallucinating but saw the movement again. He steeled his failing nerves, sprang back to his feet, and started looking around, desperately as one in search of someone.
It’s clear to him now that he was inside a log cabin. It is a small house built of logs notched at the ends and laid one upon another with spaces filled with plaster, moss, mortar, mud, or dried manure. He flashed back to the early days of his life as a boy scout and pondered to himself, ‘How in the name of hell did I get here?’
‘I’m still in the wooded area?’ his mind continued to race with thoughts.
He can see some candles lit in a strategic corner of the log cabin. A few candles were in candle stands affixed to the log wall of the cabin.
Jimmy remembered floating away from the creatures and then hitting his face on a tree and falling. How he got inside the log cabin was still a mystery to him. He started making his way
