The office was quiet, save for the soft tapping of keys and the hum of the coffee machine in the corner. Damon wasn’t here today, something about needing to deal with a few matters that didn’t concern the company. He hadn’t elaborated, and I hadn’t asked.
I did not want to intervene, though I knew that others might have. I chose to give him his own privacy, just as I had my own.
It was odd not having him around. The silence made it easier to think. To breathe. It allowed me to understand everything that I now held on my shoulders, the weight of the responsibility that I carried.
To remind myself of who I was now. Remind myself that things were not going to be the same anymore, but I was now going to tell to be stronger, that I was going to need to stand as a Luna by his side.
My hand lifted to the scarf wrapped around my neck, fingers grazing over the soft fabric. Beneath it, the mark still tingled, a new sensation I hadn’t yet grown used
