The house was quiet when I got home, too quiet.
It was as if the light of the home that I have gotten used to seemed to dim down in a way that I could not explain.
There was no sound of Isla’s babbles, no soft hum of Sienna’s voice echoing from the hall. The usual warmth that filled these walls had dimmed into something more muted. And it didn’t take me long to figure out why.
It didn’t take me long to find my beauty. The tension that coursed within my veins had my wolf tensed up under my skin as he fought to try and understand what upset her.
She was in the living room, curled up on the far end of the couch. Her posture was relaxed, but everything about her was tense. Her arms were folded, her eyes distant, and when she noticed me, her expression didn’t change.
She did not move to approach. She did not come to say hello, not like she normally would have, even before the two of us have marked each other.
Not even a small smile.<
