The morning light streamed in through the half-open curtains, casting pale gold over the tangled sheets and warm skin beside me. I tightened my arm which was draped around my mate gently, smiling when I saw how relaxed she was.
Sienna stirred against my chest, her leg draped over mine, her hand resting just above my heart. Her breathing was soft, steady. Peaceful in a way that felt rare. In a way that I admired more than anything in the world, wanted to hold onto, and wanted to look at.
I didn’t move.
I didn’t want to get up from beside her. I didn’t want to wake her.
Not when she looked so at peace, so rested.
Not for a while.
I just watched the rise and fall of her back, smiling as I saw how content she seemed. I admired the way the faint curve of her shoulder, the way the sunlight kissed her hair.
