Chapter 17. Unpredictable
"Oh, Lady Claire, you look like a mess!”
She was right. My dress was badly crumpled, and my hair was disheveled from its tight bun. It had been an hour since Alpha Caden left me. But I could still feel the swelling of my lips as well as the throbbing pain of the purple marks he left on my neck and shoulders. Louella gave Cindy a look from the corner of her eyes, and they shortly understood what happened.
“Let’s go, Lady Claire. You’ll get sick if you stay too long here.” Louella helped me stand up. She was strong, and I was thankful I could somehow rely on them. I thought no one really cared about me, and this place became more like a prison to me than a home. A huge prison with cold-hearted wardens.
The three of us went right to the Alpha's bedchamber. They swiftly covered me with blankets while Louella made her excuse to get something warm for me to drink. Cindy left, rubbing me with the blanket as I trembled in it. We, as she-wolves, were not as warm as the male
