“What are we going to do now?” Jeff hissed at me while I was washing the dishes, his shoulders hunched, and his eyebrows pulled up at a worried angle.

I couldn’t blame him for the feeling of being threatened by Kendra’s sudden presence in the house and I didn’t know why she hadn’t called the authorities yet.
