Selene
I was furious. I wanted nothing more than to grab her head and bang it against the wall, finish the job that was not done in the room when I pushed her.
But now was not the time. Not when I knew that the slightest of mistakes were going to burn me. And for that, I forced myself to walk the corridor. If I didn’t at least pretend to check on their stupid beta, like everyone else did, people would whisper. And I knew that at this point, they probably are.
I slowed at the infirmary door, peering inside. He was still unconscious, pale but breathing. A part of me almost smirked, alive, but not yet speaking. I had time. I was going to be able to go off the grid for a while longer to gain their trust.
I wanted to open my mouth, to speak, to let him hear the words of victory that when I was done, even if he had seen me, he was not going to make anyone believe him. They were going to trust my word and believe that he was being delusional after the blow…
