I noticed it the moment her eyes darkened. The moment her gaze lingered longer than necessary on the one woman that she did not want to see on the training field, and yet the one woman that I knew that we needed to keep an eye on.

Alaria didn’t say a word, but I could feel it, the way her shoulders stiffened when she caught sight of Selene training, the way her lips pressed tight when the others whispered. The way that she wanted nothing more than to lock her and just keep her away.

Jealousy.

She’d never admit it, but I knew. She was my woman, and I knew that her presence here was bothering her more than anything else when it came to me.

Her leaning in to kiss me played in my mind and what Amelia saw or thought that she saw, what Alaria had heard, her jealousy and pain, her anger and the insecurity that seemed to rise.
