I could still taste her.

I could still see the fire that was in her eyes when she looked down me.

Still feel the imprint of her lips on mine. Still feel the press of her hands against my chest, not to push me away, but to hold on.

And then it was gone.

Alaria’s warmth vanished like it never belonged, her voice sharp as a dagger as she whispered, “This was a mistake.”

But the fire she’d poured into that kiss said otherwise. It showed and told me everything that she was trying to hide. It was not just her trying to disappear in something, she was giving in. Her body was giving in to me. Just as I was giving in to her.
