I wasn’t a fool.
Alaria had her guard up now, sharpened and bolted in place. Approaching her again so soon would only make her dig her heels deeper.
She wasn’t like Claire, easy to twist or bait. No, Alaria required finesse. Precision. Patience. And she required a lot more manipulation than just promises that would be thrown out of her.
So I didn’t go to her.
