Chapter 75. The Return

Celeste’s POV

I didn’t wish to tell Liam how cruel his best friend was to me. I just couldn’t face his reaction and spoil what they had in their friendship. I hoped it was something I could talk to Johnny about and hopefully clear the air a little.

“Aside from knowing about Savannah being with Johnny,” Liam paused, his hands gripping the steering wheel “How did it go with Johnny? Was he kind?”

I felt my throat become tight, my head became dizzy with the idea of lying to Liam, but I just couldn’t cause him anymore distress.

Savannah was stalking Liam, that was enough for him to have to handle at this point.

“It was fine,” I lied, regretting my words but I couldn’t back out now “He was pleasant and we seemed to overcome some differences,” I smiled at Liam, his face illuminated by the streetlights as we drove past.

Liam nodded “That’s great to hear,” A weak smile formed on his lips, did he believe me? Or was he playing along as well?

“Ye
