My phone buzzed for the fifth time on the nightstand. I didn’t need to check to know it was Alicia again.
She had sent several messages in just a week begging to meet but, still riddled with anger and hurt, I replied none.
My phone buzzed again. I groaned and grabbed it, ready to give her a piece of my mind.
‘Please, just one conversation. I’m begging you’
I pursed my lips, contemplating whether to agree or not. In the end, I sent a reply.
‘Central Park, by the fountain’

She was already there by the time I arrived, holding a cup of coffee. I was ten minutes late and if we were on good terms, she would have chastised me for that.
Instead, she said,”Thank you for meeting me”
I sat beside her on the bench and avoided her gaze, keeping my eyes on the fountain, watching tourists and kids walk around the park.
