Chapter 191

Things had always been tense between Christine and her first child, Tamar. When she’d first had her she had been of the opinion that the child was rather ugly and made too much noise. Over time however she had developed a maternal bond for her daughter but that was cut off by Christopher locking her up and denying her access even to her own child. It had been the most cruel thing and she had had to watch at a distance as her child had grown.

Then one day, Christopher had decided he would send Tamar to a boarding school and he had not informed Christine prior. At first, when Christine no longer heard her daughters footsteps as they trod the corridor she had thought Christopher had made good on his promise and had killed her baby. That would make no sense however because that was his child too but he had told her that he had killed his own parents. If he could kill his own parents, what was a child to him?
