Chapter 192
Lady Christine watched as her daughter paced her room; sat down occasionally before standing up again to continue pacing. The girl seemed beyond comforting. It was not like she was particularly crying but she looked visibly troubled. Lady Christine wanted to hold her daughter near and tell her that her future was secure; that there was nothing to worry about but she knew Tamar would not want that so she continued waiting for her daughter to be calm.
There was a knock on the door however and Tamar eyed the door as if it were an enemy.
“I’ll get it,” said Lady Christine who opened the door and in her hand was a letter.
“This is it, isn’t it? The annulment letter.” Tamar regarded it as though it were a ticking bomb. She did not collect it from Lady Christine’s hands.
“Would you like me to open it and see?” Lady Christine offered since Tamar looked frightened to even take a peek at the letter.
“No, no, just throw it away on your way out, if I do not read it
