Elvira POV

I didn’t see it coming. After Jaxon declared war on Bloodmoon, I thought the heat would come from the outside, from rival packs or angry rogues, not from inside the very walls of Pack Tower.

Things were tense but oddly peaceful. Meetings went on for hours, most of which I wasn’t allowed in. Alpha Jaxon was constantly occupied, and I rarely saw him anymore. His room was now on the other end of the tower, feet away from mine, and with the size of the place, we may as well have been living in separate worlds.

That morning, I was heading toward the kitchen for some tea when I ran into Alpha Callen. He looked rougher since we came to Pack Tower, guess he didn’t have time for his usual makeup. His jaw clenched tight and eyes darting down the hallway before he looked back at me.

“You haven’t heard?” he ask
