Chapter 39. Set of Lies

Amelia’s POV

Waiting for them to emerge from the kitchen did not take me long. It took them just a couple of minutes. If given the option, I would prefer not to confront and converse with my stepfather, who appears content and clearly at ease in our current residence. But since I am out of options, I have to accept that he will be a part of the talk my mother and I are going to have right now. His contribution was not that great; he was only slightly involved.

“Lusio is your true father, Amelia.”

As soon as my mother sits down in front of me, she says that. With a shocked expression on his face, my stepfather turned to face her. He was about to sit next to her when something stopped him. As though doubting my mother’s abrupt behavior, he fixed his gaze on her.

“Mom, what did you say?” I asked, hardly able to digest and get the words out. It sounds to me like a bomb.

With my eyes still wide with shock, I quickly stood up.
