I found it hard to breathe as my heart pounded in my chest harshly. I rested on the wall and closed my eyes. What was this?

“Your mum?” I heard Devon’s shocked tone.

“Yes, Dad. I heard the doctor but Mum wasn’t happy. She was crying when I came out of the bathroom. Is mummy sad because little sister is ugly?” Kaden’s childish tone entered my ears and my eyes watered.
