I couldn’t shake the unease gnawing at me. Every thought circled back to Maeve.

I’d insisted that Tyler escort her, to prevent any trouble on the route. He’s one of the pack’s finest guardians—towering, broad-shouldered, and utterly dependable. I trusted him with my life; he’d die for me without a second’s hesitation, and I expected him to show the same fierce loyalty to Maeve.
