Draven’s POV
I couldn’t shake the unease gnawing at me. Every thought circled back to Maeve.
I’d insisted that Mason escort her, to prevent any trouble on the route. He’s one of the pack’s finest guardians—towering, broad-shouldered, and utterly dependable. I trusted him with my life; he’d die for me without a second’s hesitation, and I expected him to show the same fierce loyalty to Maeve.
I was certain she’d handle the meeting at the Diamond Pack just fine. Maeve is fierce—one hell of a strong woman with natural leadership skills—and I couldn’t have been prouder. With Mason and Elysia by her side, she ought to be perfectly safe. Elysia, my second-in-command, is as sharp and capable as they come. Yet Ryker, the wolf inside me, wouldn’t quiet. He prowled in my mind like a restless predator, convinced she was in danger and desperate for me to be with her.
