Maeve’s POV
I stopped in front of Thea’s chamber and raised my hands in the air instead of knocking. When I tried the handle, it refused to budge. I sighed, peeled the black bracelet from my wrist, whispered barely audibly—and heard the lock click open. I slid the bracelet back on and stepped inside.
The room was empty. No sign of Thea, no Draven’s blood splattered on the floor. Only a single dagger lay on a corner table. My brow furrowed as I approached it, fingers itching to touch the hilt. Then Thea’s voice came from behind me, cold and sharp: “And look who we have here.”
I turned. My blue eyes met hers, and a small smile curved my lips as I studied her from head to toe. She looked nothing like someone who’d lost the will to live—it was all an act for Draven, I realized.
“My mate said you weren’t doing well, so, as your gracious and caring Luna, I decided to come see you,” I said, staying rooted in place.
