Draven’s POV
I linked minds with Ariannon, and she told me Maeve had just returned to her chamber. I dropped the papers in my hands onto the wooden table and pushed myself out of the chair. Purpose driving each step, I strode down the corridor toward the castle’s right wing, where Maeve’s room lay.
I reached her door in no time. Placing my hand on the brass knob, I turned it and stepped inside. Almost at once, her sweet scent filled the air, and my deep amber crystals flared in response. From somewhere in the back of my mind, Ryker stirred, hungry with anticipation.
She stood before the mirror beside her dressing table, clad in a white silken robe that clung to her wet skin. Damp strands of hair framed her face, rivulets of water tracing her curves from shoulders to waist. I inhaled deeply, letting the moment wash over me, and saw her blue eyes meet mine in the glass. She paused, holding my gaze, as I crossed the room in long strides.
