Draven’s POV

My amber eyes never wavered from Ivy’s, her sharp gaze fixing on mine with an intensity that made my blood run cold. For a heartbeat, her words echoed off the walls of my mind. Then I realized how absurd—and how utterly stupid—it was for me even to entertain such a notion, especially where a Black was concerned.

I knew Maeve too well. Whatever secrets she held back from me before, this couldn’t be one of them. Ivy’s words had to be lies.

“Ivy,” I said, forcing myself to stay calm. If anyone else had stormed into my office with such baseless accusations, I would’ve torn their heart out. But it was Ivy—so I let her live.

She leaned forward, eager for my reaction. “What’s wrong, Draven?” Her brown eyes probed me, curious.
