Without hesitation, I surged forward with inhuman speed, wind whipping past me in a blur of motion. In the span of heartbeats, I was beside Luther and Maeve. In one swift motion, I seized her from his arms, yanking her back as though she were the very source of my torment. My grip tightened around her upper arms, my nails biting into flesh as though to anchor myself in reality.
