Chapter 55. Stroke of Fortune (2)
Grace narrowed her eyes with an index finger and pointed at Evan. “Are you missing Anthony? Geez, you guys act like a cat and a dog when you meet. But then you miss him when he’s not around,” she joked, followed by a hearty laugh.
“Ew. Who’s missing him? I mean, if he’s here, let him do the delivery,” Evan shrugged. “I better stay with you at the shop.”
Grace crossed her arms and then clicked her tongue in disbelief. “Come on! Work your arse off,” he said then patted Evan's upper arm. “Anthony told me this morning that he couldn’t help since he had to do something at his cafe.”
Not letting Grace do the hard work, Evan finally decided to do it for her. He took the three boxes of pastries and walked out of the house with her. They separated once they passed the fence.
The sun was scorching hot even though it was still early. No wonder, the dry season had come. Thinking that it might take more than ten minutes to go back and forth from this block to the next one
