Chapter 5. Suspicious
Kathleen...
She slowly opened her eyes. Even though she was on a luxurious king-size bed, she still felt so uncomfortable. A small patch of her pale skin was exposed to the sunlight, making her feel so sweaty.
The sun rays that shone down on her eyes made her feel more dizzy.
How did she get into the bed again?
The last thing she could remember doing was taking a sip from the coffee that her fiance had given to her.
According to Henry, the drug he mixed into her drink was supposed to put her to sleep for the whole day, so how on earth did she manage to wake up this early?
Fortunately for Henry, he chose not to make out with Quinn in his room, if not, they would have had her witness their dirty affair.
She forced her weak body to get off the bed. She found out that she was in Henry's room and not mine. Discovering that she slept off in his room was something that she was really happy about. She dashed her eyes around the room, hoping to see him.
Henry wasn't in there, so she strode out of the room to ask the workers where he was.
Everywhere seemed quiet, it seemed as though everyone was gone. There was no glimpse of Henry, nor was there any worker.
She decided to check each room one after the other. There was certainly no one in the rooms that she checked in.
While she was still checking the rooms, she heard a noise from one of the rooms. She wasn't sure about the particular room where the noise came from but only four of the worker's rooms were left to check.
She walked into one of the rooms to check if there was anyone in it. She searched properly but she did not see anyone inside. She stepped out of it and walked into the next unchecked room, still, she didn't see anyone. She walked into the third room, yet no one.
Only one room remained to be checked. "This is the room where that noise came from," she muttered.
For some reason, she was a bit nervous. Everything seemed creepy since she woke up.
First of all, she ended up sleeping again in the morning, which didn’t seem right to her. Secondly, she found the house empty and all the workers gone. Thirdly, she heard a sound from one of these rooms.
She could not help but think that some burglars must have gotten into the house. But if there were burglars in here, why would they be hiding from her? It didn't make any sense to her, so she shoved that thought out of her head.
With just three steps, she got to the door of the last room, she held on to the doorknob and after a count of five, she opened it slowly.
This particular room felt so different from the others. Even though it looked empty, it still felt as though someone was inside.
Her instinct could never be wrong, so she decided to check the room properly.
Just as I was about to search the room thoroughly, a rat ran across my leg, making me scream and jump up in fright.
One thing that she hated was rats. How could a rat be in here? She couldn't waste any more time here, so she stepped out at once, then she took out my phone and dialed Henry's number.
As soon as she dialed his number, she heard a phone ring right from the room where she was frightened by a rat.
What could this mean?
Was Henry in there with a maid?
Kathleen walked out of the room in annoyance; she wanted to let out some steam. Even in a relationship based on mutual benefits, neither party would like to be cheated upon by the other.
She sashayed to the master bedroom hoping to find Henry, but he wasn't there.
What game was her fiance up to? Plopping herself on the king-sized bed, she thought about the look on Quinn's face earlier.
Wait! What if Henry already banged that lowly maid on the bed she was currently seated on? Her face was filled with disgust as different things crept into her mind.
"The fuck," She cursed under her breath. With a grimace on her face, she pulled out her phone to make a phone call.
"Prepare a suitcase of money for me," she calmly instructed her assistant. The phone was on a loudspeaker, there was silence at the other end of the line.
"Didn't you hear me?" She glanced at the caller ID, to make sure he was the one on the line.
"What do you need a suitcase of money for?" A manly voice sounded.
There was no way she couldn't know who was on the line.
"Dad?" Why was he with her assistant's phone? "Be careful, and don't do anything stupid," with that said, he hung up the call.
What the heck! Wait a minute, this was really not a joke? First of all, she suspected her fiance could be having an affair outside their relationship with no other person, than his maid.
Then this? Well, she couldn't be bothered to continue thinking; she wasn't going to get any answers. She was going to get to the root of this Of course she was Kathleen and she always had her ways. Henry surely had no idea what he put himself into. If he thought he could cheat on her, without being caught, then he was certainly wrong. She wasn’t going to let him enjoy sleeping around. He belonged to her as far as she was concerned.
Now, to her plan, she intended to sort Quinn with cash so she would leave Henry alone, there was no way she could reject, no? She was working for money, right? Then the money she would get but if she dared reject the offer, then she would go ahead with her other options.
