Chapter 28. Too Intoxicating

Alaric leaned back on the sofa, as relaxed as if he were in his own home. He loosened his tie and unbuttoned a few buttons, revealing the bronze expanse of his chest, exuding an irresistible masculine allure.

His deep eyes roved over her body, one look enough to convey his intention. Emerald stood in front of him, her slender fingers lightly brushing over the top button of her blouse. Her voice dripped with seduction.

"Or would you rather start now, Mr. Corrigan?"

Alaric's eyes grew even more languid as he looked at Emerald standing in front of him. He seemed utterly exhausted. Maybe his recent business trip had drained him completely, and here she was, trying every trick just to captivate his attention. A twinge of guilt crept through Emerald, making her feel embarrassed for even trying.

"Is there anything to eat?" Alaric asked softly, catching her off guard because that was the last thing she expected.

"Huh?"

The thought crossed her mind—was he joking?
